Conference Involvement

I am skilled at conference organization. During my Ph.D. studies at University of
Southampton, I received training and got involved in planning the annual conference
“Construction and Decay” in 2016. I learned how conferences can be promoted by using a
mix of contrastive concepts to grab academics’ attention, for instance. I collaborated with a
team on the design and refinement of a request for papers. Later, during the 14th Annual
Conference of the British Association in Applied Linguistics (BAAL) entitled Language,
Learning and Teaching, Special Interest Group, in July 2018, I oversaw the organization
and coordination of helpers and schedules. I offered support for attendees at the registration
desk and for delegates who pre-booked accommodation. Days later, at Trinity College
Dublin, I worked as a Room Steward during the 39th International Listening Association
(ILA) Convention hosted in Dublin, Ireland, in July 2018. I supervised the layout of
meeting rooms, welcomed speakers and audience, kept track of time and reminded
delegates to complete the program evaluation. Furthermore, in terms of safety, I gained
knowledge of fire prevention and college emergency procedures, including evacuation, and
crowd control, amongst other duties.
